Role Responsibilities Are you a skilled writer and editor with a talent for transforming complex information into clear, concise, and effective communications? Alberta Energy is seeking a Writer/Editor to join the Ministerial Correspondence Unit (MCU). Reporting to Team lead, in this role, you will support the preparation of high-quality correspondence, briefing materials, and issues management products for senior government officials while ensuring communications align with government standards, protocols, and strategic priorities. We are seeking a Writer/Editor with exceptional writing and editing skills, strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, and experience preparing high-quality correspondence and briefing materials in a fast-paced environment. Your key responsibilities include: Drafting, editing, and coordinating correspondence, briefing notes, and other written materials for senior government officials. Researching issues, analyzing information from subject matter experts and stakeholders, and translating complex information into clear, concise, and effective communications. Providing advice and guidance on writing best practices, editorial standards, tone, style, and communication protocols. Monitoring emerging issues, tracking correspondence trends, and contributing to issues management and reporting activities. Maintaining awareness of ministry priorities, legislation, policies, programs, and current issues to ensure accurate and informed communications. Developing and maintaining communication resources, templates, style guides, and reference materials to support consistency and quality. Delivering writing and editing support, training, and educational resources to promote effective communication across the department. Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders while managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines. Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and providing operational support and team coverage as required. Qualifications University graduation in Communications, Journalism, English, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related field, supplemented by a (2) two years progressively responsible related in experience is required in: Writing & Editing. Executive Correspondence. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one-for-one basis. Assets: Experience supporting senior executives, elected officials, or executive leadership teams. Knowledge of Canadian Press (CP) Style and plain-language writing principles. Term of Employment: This is one full-time permanent position. Location: Petroleum Plaza Building North Tower, Edmonton.
