Position: Interior Design Consultant Division: Utilities and Environment Department: Facilities Management Term: 1 Temporary Full Time position available for approximately 12 months. Closing Date: 08/31/2026 Labour Group: CUPE 59 Posting: 5663 This position is a CUPE 59 position and will be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Should it not be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, external candidates will be considered. Job Summary This position works with program department staff to design and coordinate accommodations and space planning, within civic buildings. This position evaluates and facilitates the establishment of corporation standards for use for short and long term strategic space management plans. Duties & Responsibilities Provides project management for interior renovation projects. Consults with managers to determine spatial requirements, technical requirements and program needs, prepares budgets, designs interiors, reviews construction drawings, writes specification documents for construction finishes and furnishings and prepares tender documentation. Coordinates schedules and site work with superintendents. Supervises site work to completion of projects and keeps detailed administrative records. Researches existing space within the corporation and analyzes it against benchmarks to develop program standards and recommendations. Develops and documents standards for materials and finishes, furniture, and accessories through product tests and maintenance reviews. Responds to enquiries related to ergonomic concerns, product specifications, accessibility issues, work-station design, furniture repairs, warranty etc. Accesses an inventory of systems furniture, maintaining/supplementing a currency ledger. Purchases interior furnishings, accessories and finishes and maintains record documents. Supports and promotes a safe and positive workplace culture through a variety of initiatives and activities. Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations in addition to the City of Saskatoon’s administrative Occupational Health & Safety policies and departmental procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Degree in interior design, plus three years’ current experience, including office and institutional design and systems furniture OR Diploma from a recognized two-year post-secondary program in interior design, plus five years' current experience, including office and institutional design and systems furniture. Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence and a vehicle suitable for the performance of duties. Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record. Knowledge of all aspects of building design, construction methods, materials and codes. Knowledge of corporate budgeting and purchasing procedures. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Skill in interviewing, consultation, research and project management. Skill in the operation of a computer with AutoCAD software.
